Biography

Musician - songwriter and a lyricist.

Plays Laouto, Bulgari, Mandolin and three string Bouzouki.

He seeks that powerful and pure archetype that makes some musicians pure transmitters of music over the centuries.

Also concerning writing forms, he works with forms and ways of expression they can put traditional and folk writing, to stand equally against high literary poetry, without being assimilated by it.

His musical creations – songs are based on three main axes:

Traditional music, rebetiko and contemporary Greek folk music.

He has released one album entitled "Antamosis" and two Singles.

"Antamosis" is a collection of 24 new Cretan traditional songs and a collaboration with the most

famous Cretan singers and musicians: Psarantonis, Psarogiorgis, Manolakis, Avyssinos, and B. Stavrakakis.

In 2022 he presents live the premiere of a collection of 15 unreleased new Greek songs entitled:

"What’s left, heart is to judge for"

In 2023 he presents for the first time at the garden theater "M. Hadjidakis" in Heraklion a new unpublished song collection entitled: "Gia ena Aspalatho".

It contains 15 quite new traditional and urban folk songs.

Yiannis Kalomiris was born and raised in Anogia-Crete.

He is a dentist and lives with his wife Ioanna Kalogeraki, mezzo soprano in Heraklion, Crete.
